San Diego a fost ultima destinatie din excursia de 10 zile pe Coasta de Vest a Statelor Unite (Intreg itinerariul, aici), dar si locul in care am petrecut o intreaga zi. Prea putin pentru cat are de oferit…
La o prima vedere, orasul mi-a lasat o impresie mai mult decat placuta, iar asta se datorează asemănării sale izbitoare cu Miami, care este orașul meu preferat din Statele Unite.
San Diego este al doilea oras, ca mărime, din California, după Los Angeles și al optulea din toată țara, de unde rezulta ca dimensiunile sale necesita o vacanta de cel putin cateva zile.
Este orașul perfect pentru bronz, având temperaturi de vara aproape tot timpul anului și plaje întinse pe 17 mile. Cele mai cunoscute sunt La Jolla și Mission Beach.
Ce folosesc atunci cand calatoresc:
- Pentru rezervat hoteluri: Booking.com
- Pentru rezervat tururi: GetYourGuide.com
Datorită faptului că se află foarte aproape de granița cu Mexic, în San Diego pare că se vorbește mai mult spaniola decât engleza.
Concluzionand, este cu siguranta un oras care merita vizitat cel putin o data. Iata ce am reusit sa fac eu intr-o zi in San Diego:
Am vizitat portul
Pe aici intră bananele Dole în Statele Unite. Tot în acest port se importă și mașinile aparținând mărcilor Honda, Isuzu, Acura, Nissan etc.
Pe lângă funcțiile de comerț și militare, portul din San Diego este și casă pentru câteva dintre liniile de croazieră: Holland America, Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise, Carnival Spirit și altele.
Când am trecut noi pe lângă port, era ancorată impresionanta navă Grand Pricess.
Am traversat centrul orasului
Cam în aceeași regiune se află și centrul orașului. La fel cum spuneam mai devreme, este foarte asemănător cu Miami: palmieri, zgârie-nori, căldură. Dar San Diego nu înseamnă doar atât.
Există numeroase atracții pentru toate gusturile, iar cele mai apreciate sunt: Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo, Little Italy, San Diego Embarcadero și Petco Park.
Am mers pe Insula Coronado
Pentru a ajunge din San Diego pe insula Coronado, trebuie să treci Coronado Bridge. Ce poți face pe Coronado Island?
Poți să te plimbi pe plajă, printre dunele de nisip, care văzute de sus sunt în formă de litere, formand cuvântul Coronado, poți să joci golf în Coronado’s Public Golf Course, poți vizita faimosul hotel Hotel del Coronado sau poți să mergi în Centennial Park pentru a admira skyline-ul orașului San Diego.
Am testat bucataria Mexicana
Fiind atât de aproape de tărâmurile mexicane, ar fi un mare păcat să nu încerci delicioasele bucate traditionale : tamales, enchiladas, tostadas sau tacos.
Noi am fost la Ray’s Mexican Restaurant care are un meniu foarte interesant, numai bun de testat, și care este localizat pe El Cajon Bulevard.
Am gustat din toate și jur că nu am plecat deloc dezamăgiți, ba chiar bucătăria mexicană este printre preferatele mele acum.

Hi Bella. This is our first time on your site and it’s great. We agree that San Diego is wonderful town. One of our favourite memories is the mellow, laid-back vibe of the people there. It’s so much more peaceful than LA. You have some lovely photos that show off San Diego’s beauty.
I’m so happy you like my blog! San Diego is definitely a lot more peaceful than LA. However, I hope to come back and explore much more of what this city has to offer.
We sure do love Mexican food too! It’s one of the things we miss most about our home, Los Angeles. Reading your post made me a bit homesick because LA is just up the road from San Diego!

I have spent quite some time in San Diego over the past 2 years and really love this city. I love that San Diego has so many completely different neighborhoods to explore, so many events going on, some beautiful beaches, the mountains nearby and of course the great weather year round. I will be back there early next year and I can’t wait! 🙂

San Diego isn’t at all what I pictured it to be! – not quite sure what I was expecting to be frank.
But by the sounds of it, you made full use of your day exploring San Diego. And that skyline is gorgeous… Oh man, I love the Mexican cuisine – I think I would have spent the entire day just chowing down on the food!
I went to San Diego when I was in college, but that has been YEARS ago. My stepson just got stationed there so we’ll have to plan a visit real soon!
Way to maximize your stay in San Diego! I used to live near San Diego as a child, but haven’t had a chance to go back. I definitely need to add it to my trip list for next year!!
Coronado is one of my favorite places. When I was younger my grandmother told me about how magnificent it was, then after she passed I went to visit it. I bought a bottle of wine and had a few glasses near the beach. I’m glad you had a great time in San Diego! It’s such a fun city 🙂
Thanks for the info on San Diego. The pictures make it look like a bright and clean city. From the sounds of it there is plenty to see and places to eat. Was everyone really speaking Spanish there?

It sounds like you enjoyed your mini stay in San Diego! I lived in Southern California for 8 years, I have eaten far more bananas living in Ecuador than I ever did in in California.I didn’t even realize that Dole was so big in the area. But, I must say that the Mexican food is die for in those parts, pretty much impossible to beat anyone other than Mexico.
Ooooh after reading this, I want more than a taste of San Diego! It looks like the perfect Californian city with lots of things to see & do in the downtown area. Putting it on my USA Bucket List!
